Control on updating to Windows 10

We are sure that it is very important for you to know what happens to your own devices. Microsoft allows you to judge whether to update to the latest Windows version or not. Generally, Microsoft encourages its users to update to Windows 10, as it is more accessible, safer, faster and full with innovations. After you have updated to the latest version, you still can return to the your previous one in 31 days, if you are not satisfied with the novelties. This is possible, because the full copy of your old OS will be saved on your device – including applications and settings, and will be kept for 31 days after the update to the new OS version.

Windows 10 notifications

If you are still puzzled how to update your device to Windows 10, you need not to worry - Microsoft has taken care for it already. You will get notifications on your task bar, which will inform you that you can update your OS. The notifications are clear and easy to access. If you do not want to get these notification, you can stop them in menu “Settings” in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

Windows 10 reservation

Initially, the Windows 10 installation process included 2 steps: firsts, it was necessary to make a reservation, then you got notification that you could update. Now, as more than 110 million devices had updated successfully to Windows 10, the 2-step process is no longer relevant. At present, Windows 10 is entirely accessible for the users of Windows 7 and 8.1. Before your OS is updated, you will be asked whether you want to continue or not. And of course, if you choose to continue, you will have a period of 31 days to return to your old Windows version, in case you are not satisfied with the new one.

Windows 10 and Windows Update

Very soon Windows 10 will be accessible as “Optional Update” in Windows Update for all Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. Windows Update is the place, where you can find the most important Microsoft updates.

In the beginning of 2015, Windows 10 will be re-categorized as “Recommended Update”. Depending on your individual settings in Windows Update, this could lead to automatic update of your device to Windows 10. Before the update process begins, you will still be asked whether you would like to continue or not. And of course, if you choose to continue, you will again have a period of 31 days to return to your old Windows version, in case you are not satisfied with the new one. The users who use metered connection in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can switch off the automatic updates. Microsoft does not recommend using this option, as your device will be exposed to a risk of malware attacks. In case you still prefer to switch the automatic updates off, we recommend you to check manually the Windows Update option when you do not use metered connection, so that you can install the updates marked as “Recommended” or “Important”. Windows 10 will net update automatically when you use metered connection, except when the updates are connected with security.

Windows 10 Upgrades for professionals

For those, who want to create offline media, in order to update one or several devices, Microsoft also offers some innovations. Soon, the company will launch Media Creation Tool, which will be used to create DVD ISOs or USB keys, so that you can create single image able to update any device, no matter if it is 32bit or 64 bit, Home or Pro. You can use this media to perform unlimited computer OS updates and even to make new installation anywhere, where Windows license is available.

Windows 10 for users with non-genuine versions of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

The free of charge Windows 10 version is accessible for all licensed users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. At present, Microsoft are trying to figure out how many of the users of non-licensed copies of Windows 7 and 8.1 have tried to update to Windows 10 and how many of them have then bought a license from Windows store. Soon it is expected in USA that all non-licensed users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will have the opportunity to update to genuine Windows 10 with only one click in Windows Store. In case this is well accepted from the users, it will become available all over the world.
