SAP Business Data Cloud to Be Available in Microsoft Azure Data Centers in Switzerland

29/05/2026

SAP and Microsoft announced that in the coming weeks SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) will become available in Microsoft Azure data centers in Switzerland with EU Access support. This makes Switzerland the second country in Europe after Germany where the service will offer this functionality.

According to both companies, this expansion is part of the long-term partnership between SAP and Microsoft and aims to provide organizations with greater flexibility in managing data, analytics, and AI environments.

Greater choice for data and AI operations

With the deployment of SAP Business Data Cloud in Azure, customers will be able to choose the platform and tools that best fit their specific business scenarios.

The solution enables organizations to work with both SAP and non-SAP data while maintaining:

  • the business context of the information
  • enterprise governance mechanisms
  • control over security and access

SAP states that this will enable the creation of more flexible data and AI architectures without restricting companies to a single technological model.

Combination of SAP and Azure services

Organizations will be able to store SAP data in SAP Business Data Cloud, where the information remains enriched with business semantics and governance rules, while also leveraging Azure services for broader enterprise analytics scenarios.

This enables:

  • SAP-focused analytics to remain close to the SAP environment
  • enterprise analytics to combine SAP and non-SAP data through Azure tools
  • data and analytics teams to deploy AI and analytics solutions faster

Focus on security and data sovereignty

Microsoft emphasizes that the availability of SAP Business Data Cloud in Azure data centers in Switzerland will help organizations meet strict requirements related to:

  • data sovereignty
  • regulatory compliance
  • information security

According to the company, combining SAP data with Azure’s analytics and AI capabilities will support the development of secure and AI-ready infrastructure.

Expanding the AI and data ecosystem

SAP and Microsoft define the launch of SAP Business Data Cloud in Switzerland not only as a regional expansion but as part of a broader strategy to deliver open, secure, and flexible data and AI environments.

The two companies state that they will continue to develop joint solutions to support organizations in adopting modern AI and analytics technologies.
