Altova Introduces Version 2026 of Its Data Development and Processing Software
Altova announced version 2026 of its software solutions, which includes new functionalities for working with data, expanded standards support, and improvements in several of the company’s core products. The update affects both desktop tools for developers as well as server software and regulatory solutions used for data processing and integration.
Among the key innovations are tools that simplify data mapping processes, a new graphical editor for BSON, as well as improved support for standards such as XBRL.
New functionalities in MapForce
One of the main innovations in version 2026 concerns MapForce – Altova’s tool for visually creating data transformation and integration processes.
New visual assistant for creating data mapping projects
MapForce now includes a Guide Bar that helps new users create data mapping projects step by step. The interface uses a visual drag-and-drop approach and allows easy addition of sources, targets, and data processing components through the Component Gallery.
After all steps of the mapping process are configured, the system shows how to run the project, validate the results, and save the output file. This functionality is designed to assist both new and more experienced users when building integration projects.
OCR support for extracting data from PDF documents
MapForce now offers built-in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) support in the PDF Extractor tool. This allows information to be extracted from scanned documents, archived paper files, or handwritten forms.
After OCR processing, the system displays the recognized text in a tree structure, marking words according to the confidence level of recognition. Users can edit the results and define a specific area of the document to be analyzed.
Decision Tables for business logic
A new Decision Table component is now part of the library of data processing functions in MapForce. It allows business rules to be defined through a tabular structure that describes different conditions and the corresponding actions (if/then/else).
This functionality is useful in data processing when multiple conditions must be evaluated simultaneously. For example, it can be used to automatically determine sales discounts based on customer status and purchase value.
New capabilities in XMLSpy
A BSON editor has been added to the XMLSpy tool – a binary format that extends JSON and is widely used in MongoDB NoSQL databases.
The new editor offers functions such as:
- graphical editing of BSON documents
- validation of BSON against JSON Schema
- conversion between BSON, JSON, and YAML
- generation of BSON data from JSON Schema
- queries on BSON data through XQuery
These features allow easier work with binary JSON formats and integration with NoSQL systems.
Improvements in DatabaseSpy
Altova is also updating DatabaseSpy – a tool for querying and managing relational databases. The new version includes significant performance improvements, enabling data retrieval almost at the speed at which database drivers can deliver the results.
This makes working with thousands or millions of records significantly faster, including when executing SQL queries, reviewing results, and testing different query structures.
The new version also adds support for the latest versions of popular databases:
- Firebird 5.0
- MariaDB 11.4 and 11.8
- PostgreSQL 17
New capabilities for XBRL reporting in Excel
Version 2026 also adds new functions to the XBRL add-ins for Excel used in financial and regulatory reporting.
One of the main innovations is support for xBRL-CSV Table Constraints 1.0 – an extension that enables more efficient validation of data in the XBRL-CSV format.
The xBRL-CSV format allows XBRL data to be represented through CSV files, making it easier to process large sets of financial data and improving performance in regulatory reporting.
Focus on data processing and integration
With version 2026, Altova continues to expand its portfolio of tools for XML, JSON, SQL, ETL, and data integration used by developers, analysts, and organizations to build applications, process data, and automate business processes.
The new functionalities in products such as MapForce, XMLSpy, and DatabaseSpy are aimed at improving performance, expanding supported technologies, and simplifying work with large volumes of data.
