Huawei Capitalizes on Agentic AI Boom to Drive Demand for Its Chips

03/04/2026

Huawei is expanding its presence in the field of artificial intelligence by leveraging the growing interest in agentic AI and the OpenClaw platform to drive demand for its computing solutions and chips.

During a partner conference in China, the company announced that it will introduce a new AI agent development platform – AgentArts, which will be available for public beta testing starting April 30, with its open version scheduled for release on May 30.

AgentArts accelerates AI agent development

The AgentArts platform is designed for enterprises and aims to improve efficiency in AI agent development. According to the company, it can reduce development time by more than 60%, making it suitable for organizations deploying AI solutions at scale.

Huawei reports that AI agents are rapidly moving from concept to real-world applications, with OpenClaw becoming a global phenomenon thanks to its capabilities for autonomous task execution.

Growth in demand for computing power

With the increasing use of AI agents across various industries, the demand for computing resources is also rising significantly. Huawei notes that this leads to exponential growth in token usage, requiring more powerful infrastructure.

To meet this demand, the company is developing its platforms:

  • Kunpeng – for general-purpose computing
  • Ascend – specialized for AI workloads

The plans include opening Huawei’s hardware ecosystem portfolio to partners in 2026, including modules, standard cards, servers, and supernodes, with the goal of building a shared computing infrastructure.

Competition with global AI leaders

Huawei continues to position itself as an alternative to companies like Nvidia through its own AI computing solutions. The Ascend platform and the Kunpeng processor line are at the core of this strategy, aiming to build an independent AI ecosystem without reliance on U.S. technologies.

The role of processors in agentic AI

With the development of agentic AI in 2026, central processing units (CPUs) are playing an increasingly critical role. They manage AI agents, process data, and coordinate the overall operation of systems.

Huawei sees growth opportunities through its new processor series:

  • Kunpeng 920C
  • Kunpeng 950
  • the upcoming Kunpeng 960 series

These solutions, together with Taishan supernodes, form the hardware foundation for future AI infrastructures.

Expansion of enterprise business

The growing demand for AI infrastructure is also having a strong impact on Huawei’s business with enterprise and public sector customers. In 2025, revenue from this segment in China exceeded 100 billion yuan (approximately $14.6 billion) for the first time.

The company is also expanding its specialized teams (“legions”) focused on different industries – from 8 to 48 groups – to better understand the specific needs of customers.

Financial results and future plans

Huawei’s total revenue for 2025 exceeded 880 billion yuan, marking the second-highest result in the company’s history (after the record 891 billion yuan in 2020).

Despite restrictions from the United States, Huawei has accelerated its recovery in recent years, making progress in developing its own AI chips, including the Ascend series.

As early as September, the company announced plans to launch a new generation of Ascend AI chips within the next three years, which will further strengthen its position in the AI infrastructure market.
