Intel and Fortinet Expand Strategic Collaboration to Develop the Next-Generation Security Processor 6

10/08/2026

Intel and Fortinet have announced an expansion of their long-standing partnership to jointly develop the Fortinet Security Processor 6 (SP6), the next generation of Fortinet's purpose-built security processor. The collaboration aims to accelerate product development, enhance security performance, and strengthen the resilience of the global semiconductor supply chain.

The initiative combines Fortinet's more than two decades of experience in designing dedicated ASIC security processors with Intel's expertise in semiconductor engineering, advanced packaging technologies, and manufacturing capabilities.

According to both companies, the new Security Processor 6 is designed to meet the growing performance demands of modern cybersecurity environments while supporting increasingly sophisticated security services required by today's enterprises.

The collaboration will leverage Intel's extensive semiconductor IP portfolio, advanced chip design capabilities, and next-generation packaging technologies optimized for both AI-enabled and cost-sensitive applications.

The new SP6 processor is expected to deliver tighter integration between Fortinet's hardware and software platforms, enabling enhanced security capabilities, higher performance, and greater efficiency in processing increasingly complex network traffic and cyber threats.

Beyond the development of Security Processor 6, Intel and Fortinet will explore additional opportunities to deepen their collaboration across semiconductor technologies, manufacturing processes, and the infrastructure that will support future cybersecurity innovation.

The partnership is expected to advance Fortinet's long-term ASIC roadmap, deliver greater performance and richer security services, while improving supply chain resilience and diversification for customers worldwide.
