Proxmox Expands to North America and Introduces 24/7 Enterprise Support Worldwide

18/09/2026

Proxmox has announced its expansion into North America with the opening of a new office in Kingston, Ontario. At the same time, the company is introducing 24/7 enterprise support for customers worldwide, marking an important step in strengthening its global service capabilities.

The new round-the-clock support service will officially begin on October 17, 2026. Until now, direct support from Proxmox has primarily been aligned with the company’s business hours in Austria. The new model will provide enterprise customers with access to Proxmox-backed support regardless of their location or time zone.

According to Tim Marx, COO of Proxmox, the expansion responds to growing demand from organizations operating in areas such as cloud services, healthcare, government, education, and financial services. Around-the-clock vendor-backed support is particularly important for organizations running critical infrastructure and can help remove one of the barriers that may prevent businesses from adopting open-source technologies for production environments.

Proxmox VE has also been attracting increasing attention as an alternative to VMware, particularly following Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware and subsequent changes to its subscription and licensing model. Organizations are increasingly evaluating open-source virtualization platforms as they look for greater flexibility and control over their infrastructure.

Proxmox VE remains free and open source, while paid subscriptions primarily provide access to enterprise support and the enterprise software repository. This approach allows organizations to deploy the platform without traditional software licensing costs while having the option to purchase professional support when required.

According to Proxmox, the platform currently has more than 2.3 million active Proxmox VE servers worldwide, highlighting its growing adoption among organizations looking for alternatives in the virtualization market.
