ASAP Builds Secure Connectivity for Sofia Municipality with a Focus on Cyber Resilience and NIS 2

15/05/2026

ASAP has launched the implementation of a large-scale and complex project to build a comprehensive secure connectivity infrastructure between Sofia Municipality and the district administrations. The solution will be implemented using high-end Fortinet products and technologies and is aimed at creating a modern, secure, and centrally managed communication environment.

The project is among the largest and most significant technological initiatives of Sofia Municipality in the fields of network connectivity and cybersecurity. It includes the development of a reliable architecture for secure data exchange, network traffic control, high operational resilience, and efficient communication management between key administrative structures.

In the context of increasing regulatory requirements and the European cybersecurity framework, including the NIS 2 Directive, such infrastructure projects play a key role in strengthening the resilience of public organizations. Building a secure, observable, and centrally managed network environment is an important step toward better risk management, faster incident response, and a higher level of protection for critical information systems and administrative services.

The implementation of the solution will enable centralized monitoring, enhanced security, improved coordination between individual administrations, and greater resilience in working with key information systems. The infrastructure is designed to meet modern requirements for security, scalability, reliability, and operational continuity in the public sector.

“This is one of the largest and most significant infrastructure projects for Sofia Municipality in the field of secure connectivity and cybersecurity. In the context of NIS 2 and the increased requirements for the resilience of public organizations, such solutions are no longer just a technological upgrade but a strategic necessity. The implementation of the project requires careful planning, strong expertise, and precise coordination between all stakeholders,” said Petar Ziumbilev, CEO of ASAP.

The implementation of the project will contribute to a higher level of cybersecurity, more reliable administrative communication, and improved technological readiness of Sofia Municipality for the development of modern digital services. By deploying a modern secure connectivity infrastructure, Sofia Municipality is taking an important step toward a more resilient, secure, and efficient digital administration.
