ASAP Completes Secure Connectivity Infrastructure for Sofia Municipality with a Focus on Cyber Resilience and NIS 2

ASAP has successfully completed the large-scale and complex project for building a comprehensive secure connectivity infrastructure between Sofia Municipality and its district administrations. The solution has been implemented using high-end Fortinet products and technologies and establishes a modern, protected and centrally managed communications environment.

The project is among the largest and most significant technological initiatives of Sofia Municipality in the area of network connectivity and cybersecurity. The delivered architecture ensures secure data exchange, control over network traffic, high operational resilience and effective management of communication between key administrative structures.

In the context of growing regulatory requirements and the European cybersecurity framework, including the NIS 2 Directive, the implementation of such infrastructure projects is of key importance for strengthening the resilience of public organisations. The newly introduced secure, observable and centrally managed network environment is an important step towards better risk management, faster incident response and a higher level of protection for critical information systems and administrative services.

With the system now in operation, Sofia Municipality benefits from centralised monitoring, a higher level of protection, improved coordination between the individual administrations and greater resilience in the operation of key information systems. The infrastructure has been designed and built to meet contemporary requirements for security, scalability, reliability and operational continuity in the public sector.
